Volition sign installed

Since I started in the summer of 2014 I was very much looking forward to the sign being installed. Stories began around the office regarding its long journey and if it would ever happen. Well Earthlings it has. I can now point from my UFO to where I spend 40+ hours a week working.

The Volition sign is officially here.

My Playable Resume in Unreal 4

Hello internet and welcome to yet another blog post. I would like to apologizes, for its been a bit since my last update. I wanted to make a resume that stands out and pops. So I came up with and idea to make a side scroller in Unreal 4 while displaying text from my resume about my education and work history. I added all my favorite video game elements in the playable resume. Mario, Samus, and Space Marines can be found in the foreground. These characters are an inspiration to what I do with my free time. So go ahead and take a look. If you would like a copy of the playable resume just leave a comment and we'll get that going. Until next time internet...

Unreal Engine 4: March 2015 Global Game Jam

Hello internet and welcome to my latest sweets blog post. Now I know it has been awhile since my last blog post. So I do apologies for that, but today I have something really awesome to show you guys! Its called Bruce Ballner. My first Unreal 4 level. It was for Epic Games March 2015 Global Game Jam. For those of you who do not know what a Global Game Jam is, let me explain.

Global Game Jam is a global event where teams across the world create new game in one weekend all surrounding one theme. The teams then turn in their projects and have them judged. It is pretty fun. I haven't done a jam since 2010. So it was great to get back into the spirit. The theme for March 2015's Global Game Jam was "Set it free:" So my fellow tester Kyle Hawkins and I deiced to create a 3D marble game where the player is to set the marble free. This is a brand new engine with a ton of new stuff to learn. There was a bit of a learning curve. We deiced to keep it simple. The point is to free the ball. The ball can shrink and grow and also jump. I created the level and Kyle did all of the scripting. What we presented was a pretty fun project. So take a look and you can even download it. So try it out! I'm going to dedicate the next month to create more levels for Bruce Ballner. So look out for that. Until next time internet, stay cool.

Sweet tron-ness

Bruce Ballner: In a world where balls are abused, mistreated, and incarcerated its time to escape. Enter a dark world where a ball is determined to be set free. Navigate to the top of the level and locate a space ship to escape imprisonment forever.

Risen 3: Titan Lords

Hello internet and welcome to my latest blog post. Not to much to say here. As you may or may not have read I started a new project two weeks back. So there's no secret but the game is out on PC already and Deep Silver is doing a port for PS4. So Volition gets to help out for a few months. So I'm pretty excited to work on Risen 3 for a few reasons. It seams 90% of the games I do Quality Assurance on, I am always shooting guns at some form of Demons, Aliens, Orcs, or general bad guys. Risen 3 is a classic RPG with a leveling scale and factions to join.

Now I don't play RPG's at all, so this is completely new to me. I have never tested an RPG. So I am thrilled to try something new. Check out these cool screenshots straight snagged from Google. The Risen 3 trailer is pretty bad ass. I'll update more about Risen 3 when we get closer to a launch date.

But hey you're already here. Why not check out my older posts or my art? Any way have a great life internet. Until next time.....

Scary much?
The hero.
The Hell hounds are super creepy/annoying to fight.
Fire spells are neat.
A pirates life for me.
Patty might be my favorite thing about this game. Too bad shes my sisters. No romance. Sigh.....
Hey that's me ^ I'm famous.

Risen 3: Titan Lords is an action role-playing game developed by Piranha Bytes and published by Deep Silver. It is the sequel to Risen 2: Dark Waters[1] and the third installment in the Risen series. Risen 3 returns to the medieval setting of the first Risen instead of reviving the pirate theme of the second.[2]

UDK Mod Mechanical Meltdown

Hello internet and welcome to my latest blog post. I'm very excited about this one. I started a new level two weeks ago and I set out to create a chaotic multiplayer map. I wanted to use ZERO G physics but decided that wasn't going to work. So I came up with a really fun map. I did all the scripting by myself with the tools that UDK offers. I've implemented triggering doors that open and shut. (with sound ques) I have a really cool water trap toward the back of the map. The idea is there is  a console any player can trigger causing a watery death trap. I was pretty proud of this and it comes in handy during a match. I've scatted weapons and pickups around the map for that extra bonus fun. Vehicles have been dropped in along with jump pads. What is pretty neat are the moving elevators that give the player a great vantage point above other players. I actually built the radio tower with static meshes UDK offers. And lastly what I'm most proud of is my skybox and the lighting. I really love space and cool space wallpapers. So I added stars to a cloudy skybox and turned up that purple scene lighting. Its very pretty. Well what are you waiting for? Go check out the pics and videos found below. Thanks internet.

This was the concept art I found online. This is how I wanted to level to look and feel.

 Sweet cloudy purple space.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected & Gat out of Hell

Hello internet and welcome to my newest blog post. Today I can finally tell you what I've been doing for the past seven months here at Volition. Well it's the SR4 and SRGat  awesome combo. I've been testing on the PC via Steam. Most of my time was spent on the multiplier side on Saints Row Gat.

SRG has a co-op online mode which I was responsible for testing and tracking those those nasty bugs. SR4 comes packaged with Gat and with new graphics and voice controls! How exciting! Now available on old gen, next gen systems, and the PC. I really enjoyed this project because it was my first title here at Volition. Volition has been great. Meeting new people in the industry and testing really funny games. So go check it out and take down Satan!

Cool sweet new logo.

UDK Mod Cursed Castle

Cursed Castle is another UDK mod I developed alone during my free time late 2014. The concept is simple, familiar, but different. I wanted to create a story we've all heard a million times before but with a twist ending. So I came up with a sad story that follows Jordan our hero. Who attempts to save a princess atop of a cursed castle with a twist ending. Video found below.

Very early concept of the level.
Finalized main entrance.
The moat
The scary doorway.
The full moon in the woods.
The mountains.
 The Zelda secret entrance.
The scary forest.
Stairs to hell.

Volition

In Early 2014 I moved from Arizona (again) to Illinois. Luckily had some company on my cross country road trip, Olivia my girlfriend. We had decided to gamble everything and would move to Champaign Illinois, so I could start my testing at Volition. Now I've tested a few Volition titles before but as a publisher. Now I would be in house testing with the developer. I was so excited.

The very exited and handsome Tony Lazzara.

Happy Holidays from Volition. Sunny warm Illinois. Wait no freezing cold Illinois.

I'm currently testing a few projects. Both have been been announced. If you do some research you'll find my current projects. I'll post all the details after the titles are out. Gotta look out for that NDA.

A few pictures of the office. It's so cool!
